SPEEDWAY SCENE

SPEEDWAY SCENE II

The excellent Speedway Scene board game is now made under license by Owzat Games. The company kindly offered Speed-Way.com a copy of the revamped product for review, and we're glad he did as it's a sure fire winner for any speedway fan.

Although a well established product, Owzat Games have given it a fresh, modern look. We'll go as far as to say that Speedway Scene is the ideal way to while away a few hours over those soon to arrive speedway-less Winter days and you can recreate just about any meeting you chose (home or European) from the current season or make up a few of your own. How about a league against your mates?

During our evaluation, we found it highly addictive and a remarkably realistic simulation as all the factors and variants (even chance!) of a normal speedway meeting are catered for in the rules, which are easy to follow and get used to. Having said that, the start procedure takes a little getting used to so liken that to your track start marshal getting the rider to sort themselves out at the tapes! Once you're set up, you're ready to go.

The tapes rise and how do your riders fare - will you get a 'flyer' and nip out in to an early lead or will you have a bad one and have ground to make up - the start procedure covers all this in detail. Now the race begins and you have all the tactical choices and options that would face a 'real' rider. Do you ride the line and attempt to hold your lead or look round for your partner and attempt to team ride. Or if you've missed the start a little do you immediately move wide looking for the grip at the risk of making a mistake and slipping further back. Speedway Scene has it all - clipping the fence, changing 'lanes', injuries, mistakes, sweeps round the boards, team riding, tactical substitutes and just about anything else you can think of.

The rules are well laid out and easy to follow. Once you get used to things you'll be running meetings in no time and enjoying it to boot. Attractively priced at well under 20, you can't go wrong in our opinion. To find out more and buy your copy, visit Owzatgames and become both rider an promoter!
